A bank account in Armenia and an international MasterCard can be obtained without traveling to the country. Wolja Digital arranges remote applications for individuals from Russia: we review the documents, submit the application to the bank, and support the process through account opening, card issuance, and delivery.
If the bank approves the application, the client receives a multi-currency account in four currencies: RUB, USD, EUR, and AMD. The MasterCard can be issued in either US dollars or euros. The account can be funded from Russia, and there is no need to visit a bank branch in Yerevan to apply.
The bank’s initial review of the application usually takes 1–3 business days. Documents can be submitted electronically.
| Conditions | Account and Card in Armenia |
| Personal visit to the bank | Not required |
| Account currencies | RUB, USD, EUR, AMD |
| MasterCard currency | USD or EUR |
| Application review | Usually 1–3 business days |
| Funding from Russia | Available |
| Physical card | With delivery |
| Apple Pay and Google Pay | Supported |
| Available cards | Virtual, Standard, Gold, Travel World, World Elite |
The main advantage of this offering is the combination of a foreign bank card, a multi-currency account, and a fully remote procedure. The client does not need to travel separately to Armenia to submit documents or receive the card.
Accounts in Russian rubles, US dollars, euros, and Armenian drams are opened simultaneously. This allows the client to hold and use several currencies within a single banking relationship without having to open each account separately.
The MasterCard is issued in USD or EUR. Transactions in other currencies are processed through the linked multi-currency account, with conversion applied in accordance with the bank’s terms.
Depending on the client’s needs, a virtual or physical card can be issued. Several MasterCard tiers are available, with different service fees, limits, and additional features.
The cards support contactless payments, 3D Secure, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Physical cards allow cash withdrawals in accordance with the applicable tariff.
The terms of the banking product allow the account to be funded from Russia. Transfers can be made using the account details or the card number.
The first deposit must be made from a Russian account belonging to the holder of the Armenian card. This requirement should be taken into account before starting the application process.
Once the application has been approved and the physical card issued, it can be received without visiting a bank branch in Armenia. The completed card is sent to the client through an arranged delivery channel.
As a result, the entire process, from submitting documents to receiving the banking product, can be completed without a separate trip to Yerevan.
An Armenian account can be a practical solution if the client needs foreign banking infrastructure but arranging a trip to another country solely to visit a bank is not practical.
1
You need a foreign card for international payments. A MasterCard issued by an Armenian bank can be used to pay for goods and services, for travel abroad, and for other international transactions within the card’s capabilities and the rules of the relevant services.
2
You need to hold funds in several currencies. The client receives four currency accounts at once. This is convenient if transactions are conducted not only in rubles but also in US dollars, euros, or Armenian drams.
3
It is important to retain the ability to fund the account from Russia. The account supports funding from Russian bank accounts. The client does not need to build a separate transfer chain solely for the initial transfer of funds to Armenia.
4
You cannot visit the bank in person. This is where the remote procedure offers its main advantage. There is no need to buy airline tickets, set aside several days for the trip, or adjust your schedule to visit a bank branch.
Five options are available, ranging from a virtual card primarily intended for online transactions to World Elite with higher limits and enhanced features.
| Card | Best Suited For | Annual Fee |
| Virtual | Online payments without a physical card | 10,000 AMD |
| Standard | Everyday payments and basic banking transactions | 20,000 AMD |
| Gold | Higher limits and active use | 40,000 AMD |
| Travel World | Travel, higher limits, and cash withdrawals | 60,000 AMD |
| World Elite | Maximum limits and enhanced service | 130,000 AMD |
The annual service fee is charged upon the first deposit. The tariffs differ not only in price, so the card should be selected based on the transactions the client expects to make:
The Virtual MasterCard is suitable for clients who do not need a physical card. It is issued in approximately 1–2 business days and is valid for one year.
Cash withdrawals and outgoing SWIFT transfers are not available under this tariff. Virtual should therefore primarily be considered as a tool for cashless transactions.
Both cards are issued for four years and allow cash withdrawals. Standard requires a minimum balance of 10 USD/EUR, while Gold requires 20 USD/EUR.
Gold has a higher annual service fee and higher transaction limits. If there are no specific requirements regarding limits, there is no need to choose a higher card tier solely for its status.
Both tariffs offer higher limits and no bank fee for cash withdrawals. World Elite additionally includes free servicing of an additional card and the highest level of service in the product range.
For a client who regularly uses a foreign card while traveling or conducts larger transactions, the differences between the tariffs may be more significant than the difference in annual service fees.
Wolja Digital helps select an option based on the client’s expected transactions so that, after issuance, the chosen card does not turn out to have unsuitable limits or restrictions.
The ability to fund the account from Russia is one of the practical advantages of this banking program.
There are two main options:
1
Transfer using account details. Funds are usually credited within 24 hours. The transfer can be initiated from a Russian bank using the available banking channels.
2
Transfer using the card number. Funds may be credited faster, although the final conversion rate may be less favorable.
A separate rule applies to the first transaction. The first deposit must be made from a Russian account held in the name of the Armenian cardholder.
Once the account is opened, the account details are available in the bank’s mobile application and online banking.
It is possible to open an account independently by visiting a bank in Armenia in person. However, the banking procedure then becomes only one part of the process. The client must arrange travel, set aside time for the trip, visit the branch, and take the card issuance timeframe into account.
With a remote application, these costs and organizational issues are eliminated.
| Parameter | In-Person Account Opening | Through Wolja Digital |
| Branch visit | In person | Not required |
| Documents | According to the bank’s procedure | Submitted remotely |
| Application review | According to the bank’s rules | Usually 1–3 business days |
| Receiving the card | Must be arranged separately | Delivery after issuance |
The savings are not limited to the cost of airline tickets. The client does not have to set aside several days for the procedure, arrange the trip, or independently coordinate the subsequent receipt of the card.
A compact set of documents is required for the initial application:
Wolja Digital reviews the documents in advance and prepares the application for submission to the bank.
As part of its own procedures, the bank may request additional information during the review. If such a request is made, the additional document package will be determined based on the client’s specific circumstances.
The client does not need to independently manage communication with the bank. The procedure is organized step by step, from selecting the tariff to delivering the issued MasterCard.
1
We determine the client’s needs and select a card. We clarify how the client plans to use the account: primarily for online payments, travel, cash withdrawals, holding foreign currency, or other transactions. Based on this, the MasterCard type and card currency, USD or EUR, are selected.
2
We review the documents. The client provides the required scans. Wolja Digital reviews them before submission to ensure that the package meets the bank’s procedural requirements.
3
We submit the application for review. The prepared application is submitted to the bank. The bank independently decides whether to open the account based on the results of its internal review. The review usually takes 1–3 business days.
4
The account is opened in four currencies. Following a positive decision, the client receives access to accounts in RUB, USD, EUR, and AMD.
5
The first deposit is made. The client transfers funds from their own Russian bank account. The annual service fee for the selected card is charged upon the first deposit, after which card issuance begins.
6
The MasterCard is issued. The timeframe depends on the card type. Virtual is issued in approximately 1–2 business days. Physical cards require additional time for issuance and subsequent delivery.
7
The card is delivered to the client. The completed physical MasterCard is delivered to the client. The account details are available in the bank’s mobile application and online banking.
Remote account opening may seem simpler than visiting a bank in person, but the procedure still requires selecting the appropriate banking product, preparing the documents correctly, and communicating with the bank.
Wolja Digital handles this organizational part of the process. We help determine the appropriate tariff based on the client’s expected transactions, review the documents before submission, prepare the application, and support it throughout the review process. Following a positive decision, we coordinate the further steps required for the first deposit, card issuance, and delivery.
The client does not need to independently determine which tariff suits their needs, how to arrange a remote application, or how to receive the issued card without traveling to Armenia.
Bank compliance, however, remains the responsibility of the bank. Wolja Digital supports the procedure and helps the client correctly complete its organizational stages but does not make the decision on whether the account will be opened.
Before applying, it is worth determining which transactions the account will be used for. This has a much greater impact on the choice of card than its tier.
For example, MasterCard Virtual is not suitable for cash withdrawals or outgoing SWIFT transfers. Standard and Gold have their own fees and limits, while higher-tier cards may be more appropriate for regular cash withdrawals or larger transactions.
There are also technical aspects to consider. The PIN is set when the card is issued, and it can only be changed at ATMs outside the Russian Federation. Separate bank terms apply to notifications.
Therefore, before submitting an application, we recommend identifying the main intended uses of the account. This makes it possible to select a banking product that matches the client’s needs from the outset rather than changing the solution after the card has already been issued.
The total cost consists of Wolja Digital’s service fee and the bank’s tariff for the selected card.
Annual servicing starts from 10,000 AMD for Virtual and varies depending on the MasterCard tier. For physical cards, the cost starts from 20,000 AMD per year. The exact amount depends on the selected tariff.
Wolja Digital’s service fee is calculated separately. Before the procedure begins, the client knows which type of card will be issued, what bank fees apply, and which steps are included in the support service.
No additional travel or accommodation expenses in Armenia are required for a remote application.
If you need a foreign bank account and MasterCard, a separate trip to Armenia is not required.
Wolja Digital arranges the procedure remotely: we help select the card, review the documents, submit the application to the bank, and support the process after approval. The client receives a multi-currency account in RUB, USD, EUR, and AMD, while the physical MasterCard is delivered after issuance without the need to visit a branch in Armenia.
This option is suitable for those who need not just a foreign card but a clear process for obtaining one without independently searching for a solution, traveling to Yerevan, or arranging communication with the bank.

Virtual is issued in approximately 1–2 business days. For physical cards, additional time should be allowed for issuance and delivery.
According to the terms of the banking product, the cards support Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Cash withdrawals are available for physical MasterCards subject to the terms of the applicable tariff. This option is not available for Virtual.
For physical cards, outgoing SWIFT transfers may be processed through correspondent banks in accordance with the bank’s terms. Outgoing SWIFT transfers are not available for MasterCard Virtual.
